OVD workers are exposed to various types of pollution that cause several nuisances. The present study was conducted to identify the occupational exposure factors associated with bronchopulmonary cancer and contribute to reducing the high rate of lung disease.
Our study is descriptive cross-sectional with an analytical aim, located in the field of public health, in its environmental epidemiology component. A sample of 166 workers from the Office of Roads and Drainage (OVD) / Kinshasa was selected. We used the field survey method and the face-to-face interview technique using a questionnaire as an interview guide.
After analyzing and processing the data, we found that 90.4% of respondents had already been exposed to a factor related to the profession leading to bronchopulmonary infection. 80.1% do asphalt, 10.2% work in carpentry, and 9.6% in engineering. About the factors favoring a bronchopulmonary infection, 44.6% cited food insufficiency, 36.1% cited the activity exercised at the company, and 9.6% cited exposure to asbestos and non-compliance with environmental hygiene. And there are statistically significant relationships between this research's variables of scientific interest. This allows
us to tell OVD workers to use masks during performances to protect themselves against the various diseases in their careers.
