Abstract

Alumni associations have emerged as a vital catalyst for university development worldwide, fostering a culture of giving back and transforming the landscape of higher education. This study examines the contributions of alumni associations to university development, with a specific focus on the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Alumni Association (IAUEA). The study adopted qualitative and interpretative research methods and obtained data from primary and secondary sources. The data obtained were descriptively analyzed using thematic approach. The results of the study show in IAUEA the Alumni Association played pivotal role in promoting institutional growth, reputation, and lifelong connections through financial support, mentorship, networking, and advocacy. The study further reveals some challenges facing the Association, among which were financial constraints, and lack of adequate interest from some graduands of the institution. Based on the findings, the study provides recommendations for strengthening alumni associations in universities worldwide.
