Development equally rubs off on the socio-economic status of the people. Hence, this paper examined the chronology of industrial efforts in Kogi State and how it impinged on the development of the State and the impact for the socio-economic status of the people. It is observed that an industrialist in the course of directing the industry to maximize his own gains; there infiltrated an invisible hand which promotes an end beneficial to the society which was not part of his intention.
